Dr. Simon Kipchichir Kibias OGW, MPH is a recognized and registered public health specialist in Kenya. He comes with over 20 years’ wealth of experience in public health administration both locally and internationally. He is a B.Sc. MBChB graduate of the Shool of Health Sciences at Nairobi University and holder of a Master of Public Health degree from Vrie Universeteit Netherlands. He holds a diploma in TB control from Japan, and several certificates in the area of public health practice. He has risen through the ranks from District Medical Officer of Health to now acting Director of Directorate of Standards Quality Assurance at the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
He is a member of a committee on the establishment of a 4,000-bed futuristic National referral hospital in north rift Kenya. He has external experience as a technical TB/HIV advisor to the Tuberculosis program in Botswana where he transformed the performance of the Botswana TB program tremendously. His performance track record is excellent having been part of the success story of the TB program in Kenya, attaining WHO targets in 2007. These wins earned him presidential recognition for dedicated service to the public with an Order of Grand Warrior (OGW) in 2011 and decorated by head of state in 2012. He is the brainchild of the formation and registration of the Public Health Society of Kenya (PHSK) where he is a council member. As a public health specialist, he believes in community led programs with back up from Technical Assistance from experts.
