Dr. Kimiyo Kikuchi is a visiting scientist at the Department of Global Health and Population at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, supported by the Fulbright research program. Her academic journey includes earning a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Paris VIII University and obtaining a Master’s and PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Tokyo.

Prior to her current role, she served as a consultant in the health sector of Official Development Assistance under Japanese government projects, gaining valuable experience in health policy and international development. Within academia, she has held positions as an assistant professor in the Department of Global Health and Community at the University of Tokyo and as a lecturer at the Department of Health Sciences at Kyushu University.

Her research is primarily centered around enhancing the health outcomes of mothers and children, with a particular focus on improving the continuum of care and its quality. She leads research initiatives such as an ICT-based maternal and child telehealth care study in LMIC and an oral and overall health RCT study for HIV-positive children. Her dedication and contributions to the former study earned her the 2023 Women’s Challenge Award from the Cabinet Office, Government of Japan.
