Dr. Irene Mugenya is a research medical officer at KEMRI-Wellcome trust Programme. She has a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine/University of London. Irene has vast experience in conducting both vaccine and drug clinical trials on TB, malaria, HIV and sickle cell disease. During this time, she participated in the recruitment and retention processes on site, engagement of key stakeholders, training activities, regulatory affairs, and ensuring participant safety. In addition, she has experience working with vulnerable groups i.e., pregnant mothers and children. Irene has a keen interest in Health systems strengthening.
